Good news, we have 13 cars booked in for The Yanks Weekend so come along
to Shakespeare County Raceway on May 26/27th for some loud, smokey fun.

To all Supercharged Outlaws.... make sure that you have paid your membership
and that you book in the meetings you are attending to ensure your pit space etc.
If you haven't done so, do it now as no membership and not being booked in will
mean NO ENTRY. Payment to Lee, entries to Dave. Don't miss out!

Please welcome our newest members, Roger and son Simon Cooper.
Wow, what can I say about their car, just WOW!

The vote has come back for Dragstalgia and by a very small margin has been voted for as a
points round.
Dave McKenzie is in talks with Santa Pod trying to rustle up a deal.

Our next meeting is the Yanks Weekend at Shakey so make sure you are a paid-up member
and also that you have sent the entry form back to Dave so he can obtain pit allocation etc.

Matt Lee has work commitments at the moment but will endeavour to come and race this year whenever possible.

Neil Townson and the Northern Spirit team will not be racing with us this year, great shame as they are a great bunch with a beautiful car. Neil states work commitments and car update are the reason but he will be visiting to cheer us on.

The Supercharged Outlaws were honoured to receive the APIRA Endeavour Award.

Many thanks to all concerned and to everyone who voted for us.

19th September.

We had a great weekend at The Hot Rod Drags with 14 teams roll through the gates.
The weather was against us and the track and everytime the rain stopped, the fantastic crews of Shakespeare County Raceway worked so hard to dry up and every time they got ready to race the rain came down again.
I think the Gods were telling them to have a day off and go to the bar! Thanks Guys and Gals.
Many thanks to the NSRA for hosting the event and allowing us to be part of this ever improving event.
On Saturday evening 6  Flame Burnouts were due to take place followed by a Cacklefest so I went to the tower and discussed the situation. It was decided (not by me) to only allow 2 Flame Burnouts due to the conditions and chose Tom Coe and Lee Gallimore as they both are becoming seasoned (and well done) Flamers. The track crew again worked tirelessly to prepare the track for the safety of the drivers and cars, then at 7pm the pipes were lit and the fires flaming with 2 fantastic lightly grilled drivers. The Cackelfest followed immediately and was a great success with the grandstands full of appreciative crowds eager for some noise. Fireworks ended the day apart from the drinks, barbecues and laughs with friends.
Sunday was better and most of the cars had 1 run, some of them truly outstanding with great smokey burnouts and sideways runs. Congrats to Joe Bond running another 6 at 200+.

It was a great pleasure in welcoming Ramon’ van der Weurf with his Nostalgia Funny Car.
Great to have you race with us and look forward to your visits next year.

Many thanks to Good Vibrations Motor Sports
http://www.goodvibesracing.com/  for their continued support and sponsorship. This meetings winner of the Good Vibrations prize was Trace Froome for best reaction on the tree.

Thanks to all sponsors of The Supercharged Outlaws for 2011 and hope to continue in 2012.

This was the last points round of the season so huge congratulations to Paul Watts who won the championship for the second year running. (clap, clap clap)
Sam Freeman and Vic Hammond came second with the Speed Demon Slingshot followed by Lee Gallimore in third with the Red Mist Altered.
Many congratulations to them all.

The Champion of 2011, Paul Watts.

Guess who is cooking nicely?  there is a car in there somewhere! Picture stolen from my good friend Martin Chesworth.

Our AGM/Dinner Dance is on Saturday November 5th at Himley so we are all looking forward to a night of Champions, one and all.

Over 1,200 views this week, please keep this site as your home page.

Our next meeting is The Hot Rod Drags at Shakespeare County Raceway with 15 cars booked in so come along and have some fun with us.  September 16th to 18th.
This is one of the best meetings anywhere for thrills and variety so get your tickets now.

Please see The Fadster's page, one crazy dude. Click

5 teams attended The Bulldog Bash, 25 and still going strong.
Lee Gallimore, Paul Watts, Team Thing, Mad'R's Racing and Ghost Train were on great form doing fantastic burnouts and side by side runs to within a tenth of a second at the stripe, brilliant stuff.
Lee got so excited doing one of his infamous burnouts that he decided he needed 2 lanes to do it whilst Tom Coe in the next lane was laughing, the run was side by side 7.6 and 7.7 at 180 mph. What fun they have.

Alec Coe did his 2nd Flame Burnout so check out

We had a special guest join us for this meeting and what a pleasure it was, the superb HAVOC with Nick Davies and Rob Loring, thanks to Rob for pouring the petrol, I think we owe you a few quid for that Rob.

More to come later plus the results.

Next stop on July 16th & 17th is the very first Dragstalgia at Santa Pod Raceway.
We have a good field of cars attending and are looking forward to some great racing along with some 'Flaming Burnouts'  Mad'R's Drag Racing's 'Shytalker' slingshot is definately up for this with Tom sitting in thr HOT seat for his very first flamer, not too hot we hope. Lee gallimore with his 'Red Mist' Altered has also expressed an interest in doing one too. Looking forward to that!
Come along and join the fun, bring your video cameras and ear defenders! See you there.

Nostalgia Nationals 2011 Shakespeare County Raceway  Words by Dave McKenzie
Sponsored by Stamford Speed Shop (Johnny Hall)

15 cars made it through the gates at SCR for this year’s Nostalgia Nationals. Unfortunately Chris Pattison was waiting for his rear axle to be upgraded and did not get it back in time, Johnny Hall and the Nick Osgathorp car Excalibur just simply ran out of time to have the car ready and Johnny assures us that he will be at the next round at Santa Pod. One of our newcomers got his dates mixed up - Matt Lee was actually on Honeymoon in Dubai so was unable to make his debut. Again Matt will be at the next round. Another newcomer John Reeve with the El Bandido Altered missed the Nats due to a bereavement..
That’s all the apologies, now what about the Nationals ~ 15 cars was still a record entry for the Outlaws and the action was fast and furious.
Lee Gallimore has turned the Red Mist altered into a fuel altered bracket car running 7.551, 7.585, 7.565 on a 7.5 dial in  for the three rounds that count towards the Outlaws series. This was not enough to win the event though. Paul Watts in the No Easy Pick Up was more consistent with 9.559, 9.48, 9.458 on a 9.52 dial in to take the number one spot at the Nationals.
In Q1 on Saturday morning Lee Gallimore lined up alongside Andy Hadfield in the Twister Two Great side by side burnouts with smoke to the eighth mile mark, then on the green both cars left hard and this looked like Andy was going to get the first seven second run on the Twister until the nitrous melted all eight pistons!!!! Andy says he will be back.
Another car with woes on Q1 was Ian Hanson with the Stars & Stripes Corvette a strong burnout then silence as two con rods let go in Ian’s Big Block Chevy. Luckily the diaper contained most of the debris and oil so there was no downtime. Sam Freeman continued to be consistent with a stout 7.841 @173mph in the Vic Hammond Speed Demon slingshot. Dave McKenzie was in the driving seat in the Thing 5 altered for the first run since round one when the car literally took off at the finish line and the turned hard left. This time Dave took it steady from the line and ran through at 9.2 @142 to check the car out. Nobby carried on were he left off from the Yanks weekend now looking very competent in the Rover car running a 8.972@154mph. Tom Coe drove the Shy Talker slingshot to a 8.153 at 166mph. Brian Gandy also looking strong with a 7.648 at 165mph
Q2 saw Tom Coe, Lee Gallimore, Sam Freeman,  Brian Gandy and Neil Townson all running seven seconds.
Q3 The weather this Sunday morning was a lot hotter than Saturday with the temp close on 30 degrees C. This round saw Alec Coe in the hot seat of the Shy Talker slingshot. Alec’s first run carded him a 7.958 at 171 mph. Mr Consistency (Lee Gallimore) again did a 7.5585 at 177mph. The talking point of Q3 was Brian Gandy whose engine let go just before the eighth mile with oil getting under the big rear slicks. Brian did really well to keep the car of the armco, This resulted in some considerable downtime while the SCR track crew did the big clean up job on the track ~ thank you guys for all your hard work.
Brian lost a couple of rods and the back of the block but hopes he can be back at the next event.
With the field of cars now getting decimated by problems in Q4, only 6 cars made it down the track  With Lee again running 7.5565,  Alec Running 7.887 and  Sam 7.72 (on a red light).
Trace Froome ran a 12 second pass in the Dodge Avenger funny car but Trace had problems all weekend. In his first run the mag points welded up so Trace was just pleased to get the funny car down the track. Another funny car was Tony Froome who did an observed run in the Sundance Olds Cutlass funny car. It was a careful pass and everything looked ok for Tony to step it up a notch at the next event.
In what other class in the country would you get this kind of comradeship? Team Thing lent out two crew members to other teams as they were short on crew, Vic Hammond lent Lee Gallimore his jeep as Lee’s brother had rang in sick and did not turn up with their tow van. Everyone helped each other in every way they could to make sure as many Outlaw cars made it to the track for each round. This must be the friendliest class there is and they are all a credit to each other.
Results winner ~ Paul Watts (No Easy Pick Up)
2nd Place ~ Lee Gallimore (Red Mist)
3rd Place ~ Tom& Alec Coe (Shy Talker)
4th Place ~ Sam Freeman (Speed Demon)
5th place ~ Dave McKenzie & Mark Windridge (Team Thing)
Good Vibrations Quick Reaction time ~ Mark (Team Thing altered) .1sec £60 prize
Stamford Speed Shop ~ the most mental run of the weekend (Commentators choice) Brian Gandy Skullduggery £100 prize
Thanks to the NSRA for a fantastic event and to the SCR track crew for all there hard work in giving us the track to run
Finally thanks to all our sponsors

Record Breaking Yanks Weekend Sponsored by Bill Felstead, Fester Race Cars Romford
Eleven supercharged Outlaw teams rolled through the gates of Shakespeare County raceway for Round 2 of the 2011 season. At the Yanks weekend over the May Bank holiday 28/29/30th May
New to the Outlaws was Neil Townson making his debut with the immaculate Northern Spirit altered. All the Outlaws made Neil feel very welcome and it was fantastic that he has joined us.

Round 1 on Saturday morning was a practice round and qualifier for the Outlaws. This round determines what the cars will perform like and how the track is so that they can then decide on a dial in time for the three rounds to follow. Well the track was superb with Ian Hanson setting a new Outlaws ET record off the trailer with a stout 7.243 / 187.95 MPH ~ this was also a personal best in both et and mph for Ian.
More Outlaws ran in the seven second zone, Lee Gallimore 7.49/182mph; Tom Coe 7.87/170mph and Brian Gandy 7.77/182mph. This was a super round on day one.

Round 2 followed at 3-30
Although the weather was cool (good for power) there was a strong tail wind down the track. The star of this round was Brian Gandy who took Ian’s Outlaw Et record off him after only 2 hours. Brian ran 7.238/191mph to reset the Outlaw et record by 100th /sec and also a personal best for Brian in both ET and MPH. Nobby came out in this round for his last observed run. Nobby’s previous best had been a 10.3 run on an early shut off. This time it was a full pass and he missed out the nines and ran straight into the eights with a great 8.93/152mph - well done to Nobby and the team! Steve Goode was a noticeable absentee from the track, during the warm up he cracked a selector fork on the Lenco of the Ghost Train funny car and had to travel back to Steve’s workshop to make repairs for Sunday. Chris Pattison was slowly getting used to driving his altered, carding a 9.9 / 137 mph on this run. Seven second runs this round were Lee Gallimore 7.44/183mph, Tom Coe 7.634/180mph; Ian Hanson 7.316/186mph and Sam Freeman 7.958/194mph - another massive speed for the Speed Demon car of Vic Hammond.

Round 3 Sunday morning 11-30
Some of the big hitters were back in the seven second zone again - Lee Gallimore with a quicker 7.385/185 mph &  Neil Towson 7.57/ 196mph. This was a new class record in mph for the Outlaws achieved by Neil on only his second run. Well done to Neil!
Chris Pattison was chipping away at his et with a quicker 9.5/127mph a slower speed for Chris but a better et.

Round 4 Sunday afternoon 3-30
More PB’s in this round. Reigning no. 1 Paul Watts ran 9.16/148mph giving Paul a new PB in both Et and MPH. Tom Coe in the Shy Talker ran 7.521/182 to give Tom a new Et PB. Steve Goode in the Ghost Train funny car ran a better 8.4/125mph but lady luck is certainly not with Steve as this run cost Steve another engine. We all hope Steve has a change in his fortunes soon because this car has loads of potential. Chris Pattison also ran a new PB this round down into the eights for the first time 8.74/147mph - well done to Chris. Every body was eager to get the best out of there cars this round resulting in a big red light for Lee Gallimore leaving before the starter had pressed the button resulting in  no time. Neil Townson had broken his Lenco so was a no show, Brian Gandy had damaged a rod bearing scoring the crankshaft so Brian missed the Sunday action.
Richard Davis was in the meantime consistently running his immaculate red Willys running 9.9, 9.7, 9.7 on a 9.9 dial in to give him a 0.198 from his dial in to give him the first place for this event.
Second place went to Paul Watts and a great result for third in his first full event with the Outlaws was Chris Pattison. Well done to all the Outlaws for a cracking weekend, A big thank you must go to the track crew at Shakey ~ this track just gets better and better, thanks to all the hard work they put in which is greatly appreciated by all the racers. Great news;  Team Thing manage to find an engine block for their small block chevy powered altered. Dave & Mark drove up to Newcastle Sat morning to have a look at this block and were happy enough to purchase it. They are now in a position to machine the block this week and then get it assembled to put in the altered. We anticipate being ready for the Nostalgia Nationals.

Neil Townson has confirmed he will be joining us and racing at Garys Picnic on 28th May at Shakespeare County Raceway with his superb Northern Spirit.

Lee Gallimore with the Red Mist Altered, Ian Hanson with the Corvette doorslammer,  Mad'R's with the Shy Talker Slingshot and Brian Gandy with Skullduggery.
Hope to see you there.

Latest update on Round 1;

We all had a very enjoyable weekend and managed some good racing despite the awful crosswind which did prove a bit scary for more than one driver, namely Dave McKenzie driving The Thing Altered who at one stage was hanging on by just one front wheel, click
HERE  for a link to his website. Thanks to Peter Donaldson for the pic.

Bryan Gandy had a fantastic run, nearly losing the plot but keeping his foot down hard and managing a great save with his daredevil driving.
Commiseration's to Trace Froome who had trouble with the gearbox in his Funny Car and despite 2 days of hard work, did not manage to run.
Sam Freeman and the Hammond team managed 4 excellent runs winning the event and managing to take the $100 quickest reaction time courtesey of
GOOD VIBRATIONS MOTORSPORTS  to whom we are most grateful.
Richard Davies came in second place driving his shiny red '41 Willys with some great consistent runs.
Paul Watts took 3rd place driving the monstrous No Easy Pick Up so a big congratulations to them.
Ian Hanson with his superb Chevy Corvette had fun with a few of his now normal sideways burnouts.
Steve Goode had a winter rebuild of the Hemi powered Ghost Train Funny car and WOW! did that sound strong, he did spring a small oil leak so cautiously retired to check the motor without causing more unneccessary expensive damage.
Lee Gallimoare had a variety of fantastic smokey burnout runs in the oh so shiny Red Mist Altered sporting new rear tyres with which to paint stripes on the track.
A new kid on the block was Nobby with a Big Block Chevy sitting in a Rover 214 body, he did a great job considering this was the FIRST time ever in a drag car and the first time ever on track culminating in a 10 second run. Well done Mate.
Chris Pattison came out to join us for the first time as well with a cool T bodied Altered chalking up some very good burnouts and trial runs.
Alec and Tom Coe had to manage without Kev, their Main Man who was unfortunately having a rest in hospital. Kev is home now but still not well but had better get his Ar*e in gear as Tom and Alec made a few errors without his guidance. Alec managed a 7.9 driving through a nasty head wind and Tom managed an 8.1 with a sliding crosswind run.

Massive thanks to our sponsors and to everyone at Shakespeare County Raceway for looking after us so well.
Keep safe and see you all at Round 2 at The Yanks Weekend.

Some nice pics here thanks to Alan Currans.

Round 1 of The Supercharged Outlaws at Shakespeare County Raceway coming soon, don't miss the fun.

Round 1 of the 2011 Supercharged Outlaws season is fast approaching. We start this year at Shakespeare County raceway on the 30th April 1st May  with an entry of 12 cars (while going to press), it is our best ever opening round regarding number of entries.
The no 1 plate holder Paul Watts with the No Easy Pick Up will be there to defend his title in 2011 but he will be without his long time crew man Nobby. Nobby is this season to campaign his own car, an ex super mod car with a big block chevy on petrol. This will be Nobbys first trip up the ¼ mile and what a way to start your drag racing career.

Also in the petrol ranks will be Richard Davis with his immaculately turned out 41 Willys. Richard is a consistent runner and I am sure he would have gained the Outlaws no 1 plate in one of the last 3 seasons had he been able to contest every round.
Finally in the petrol ranks will be Chris Pattison debuting his altered Chris will be helped by Johnny (Mental) Hall at this event.

A lot of the big hitters in the outlaws will be at Shakey for this one. Class record holder Ian Hanson with the Hanson Racing Corvette will be looking to go even quicker in 2011, those six second passes do not look far away.

Vic Hammond will again be campaigning the Speed demon slingshot with Sam freeman in the hot seat, this combination works very well and they are always one of the teams to beat.

Steve Goode will be back stronger than ever after a disastrous 2010 with lots of engine damage in the Dodge avenger funny car. Steve assures me he found the cause and is raring to go in 2011, this car should easily run in the six second zone (if rumours are true Steve may tip the nitro can this year)

Dave Mckenzie and Mark Windridge have spent the winter updating the Team Thing altered the engine and gearbox have been freshened up and the chassis has been straightened. A new rear wing fitted and the race truck has had a makeover so the team are excited about 2011.

Alec Coe has had a winter of rebuilding the engine spent most of the winter at Team Thing HQ were Mark Windridge rebuilt the small block Chevy for Alec & Kev after they suffered serious engine damage last year.

Another hard competitor is Lee Gallimore with his trade mark long smokey burnouts Lee is looking again for those low seven second times and who knows may even dip into the sixes with his Small Block chevy..

Another altered driver looking for good things in 2011 is Brian Gandy. Brian had a health scare in 2010 and he is now looking forward to campaigning the Skullduggery altered in 2011.

Finally Trace Froome will be out with his Dodge Avenger funny car Trace runs a Big Block Chevy  and will be looking at low seven second passes this year.

The eagle eyed among you will have noticed Roy Wilding missing from the entry. Roy will be helping Brian Gandy at this event and with Roy’s busy schedule he hopes to be out at the next event with his excellent prepared slingshot. Also later in the season new cars are lined up to debut with the supercharged outlaws so keep checking our web site at
www.supercharged-outlaws.co.uk

Shakespeare County Raceway would like to take this opportunity to thank the Supercharged Outlaws for their assistance and to Ian Hanson, family and crew members from Hanson Racing for the loan of the teams ‘53 Corvette ‘doorslammer’ placed on display for three days of last month’s Race Retro Show held at Stoneleigh Park, nr Coventry.

The ‘Vette was the centre of attention all weekend long, and was constantly being photographed from every angle especially when the front body work came off for Sunday’s display.

Throughout the three days, thousand’s of track flyers and event schedules were being snapped up by motorsport enthusiasts and casual onlookers. Pictures of the ‘Vette also ended up on the official Race Retro web site Gallery along with the track’s Junior Dragster Experience Hire car.

The next show outing for the Supercharged Outlaws will by in May at Drayton Manor Theme Park for the 19th annual NASC Springnationals on Sunday 15th.

NB: Due to circumstances beyond the NASC’s control the date for the show has been changed from Sunday May 8th to Sunday May 15th. Shakespeare County Raceway will be attending so any Supercharged Outlaws wishing to take part can they please get in touch with Jerry Cookson on 01789 720180 or e-mail quartermilenewsmakers@yahoo.co.uk.

There's going to be some tough weeks in May as the following Saturday May 21st its PPC In The Park at Mallory Park, Leicester followed a week later by Yanks at SCR. Again please get in touch with Jerry if you intend to show. 'Fire-Up & Cackle Shows' are a must at both events while live action burnouts with the Mallory Park management are in discussion.

On behalf of all the Supercharged Outlaws, Brilliant news and get yourself fit and ready to race.

Breaking News;

Custom Car Magazine

have emailed me confirming that they will endeavour to publish our events subject to magazine space.
Quote from email;

'What we may be able to do however is to give the Supercharged Outlaws more of a plug in the magazine than we have done in the past. Who knows, a bit more exposure may well attract sponsorship from elsewhere.
With the exception of the PPC Show, July Track Days at Shakey, and VW Action, we will be covering all the events on your calendar for 2011.
I wouldn't want to run a blow by blow report on what happened at each meeting but I would be interested in new cars, developments to existing cars, reasons for improvements in times - that sort of thing.'

If any of you have any news or updates you would like to have added to this site then please contact me be it news of rebuilds, modifications etc.

Mad'R's are picking up their engine in 2 weeks hopefully and are looking forward to a consistent year ahead.
Visit
http://www.madrsdragracing.co.uk/  as we are doing some shows in addition to racing with the great Supercharged Outlaws.
We are also hoping to be chosen to do a Flaming Burnout at Dragstagia at Santa Pod.

We are looking forward to having Jane Kay with her Funny Car and Charlie Chivers with his Chevy Pick Up join us this year along with a couple of others waiting to confirm.

We are proud to sponsor the SCR Junior Dragster League, hoping for some new drivers to join us in the coming years.

Supercharged Outlaw racer Clive Bush is looking for crew next year to help him run his 23 Model T Altered at all of the Supercharged Outlaws races at Shakespeare County and Santa Pod raceways, but they must live in the south west (down Devon way). Interested applicants can e-mail Clive at
bush-j1@sky.com or call 07974 446328.
